To get MXit working on your Samsung i600, you will firstly need to get correct internet settings for your phone. Please contact your network service provider's customer care and ask them to send you suitable internet settings for your phone.

Once your phone's internet setup is correct, please download MXit:
    1. Using your phone's default wap browser, go to http://m.mxit.com
    2. Download the version of MXit for the Samsung i320.
Once the download has completed, open MXit from your phone's applications / games menu. If MXit isn't listed in your phone's applications / games menu, look for a midlet manager application / JVM on your phone. If you find a midlet manager application / JVM, open it and run MXit from within it.

    Hello.

I have read & tried all of that & I get as far as this file cannot be viewed on the device when I click on normal download.

I cannot find anywhere where it says java or the midlet application file & I have checked my MTN GPRS settings are correct that I can see.

Sorry this is also for the sansung i600

    Regards & at a loss
    Nols

Unfortunately the Samsung SGH i600 does not ship with a JVM and as such does not run Java midlets so Mxit will not run on the i600.
A free JVM is also not available from Java Sun for mobile phones as this is only sourced out to mobile phone manufacturers. You will have to see if you can source a 3rd party JVM to install on the i600. I managed to get it done using the IBM JVM which is available from their developer website:

    http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/websphere/zones/wireless/weme_eval_runtimes.html

The download is in the region of 60 m/b. Installation must be done manually using ActiveSync 'Explore Smartphone' option under tools and involves creating directories and copying files across to the mobile.

    Hi,

i checked out the ibm website u gave on your thread, but u cant download the jvm unless u are registered with ibm and have an ibm number.
    so that doesnt help anybody.
are u saying that we shouldnt bother buying an i600, because we are not going to be able to use mxit on it, unless we are programmers and know exactly what we doing, and have access the right progammes.

Surely mxit should be able to provide its users with the correct jvm, making it simple to download, and simple to install. is that not good service?
instead of giving links we cannot download from, with obscure half instructions on how to load it.

    Disappointed, Mate

anybody can register and download the JVM. I did and have no affiliation with IBM.

I gave the link as I have researched the JVM - I have no affiliation with MXit. The JVM does have instructions included as to how to install it on the smartphone.

I have not been successful in installing Mxit as the download from this site only gives the JAD file. The JVM requires the JAR file to install the applet. Running the JAD file in the JVM gives an error as the JAR file is no longer available from the Mxit link in the Jar file.

No probs, I also got it to run just now using the IBM JVM. You have to d/load the whole file to get the runtime which is transferred to the phone - unless it is available elsewhere - and use the 'other' option on mxit's site when specifying your fone for the Mxit applet.

kool thejuannes  - Very bad of Samsung not to include the JVM on the phone though.

Got mxit to work on the samsung i600 blackjack. I installed the ibm jvm on the phone. then downloaded the mxit jad ( phone: samsung model: other) file to my pc, then send it to my phone(under a mxit folder in my documents) . then open jvm emulator, install. url: file:///My Documents/mxit/*****.jad (***** is the jad file name) and mxit installed.

Its a basic mxit, so no sound and no skins supported. hope they bring the right one out for the blackjack
