I recently upgraded my HTC Dream (G1) to a Froyo (Android 2.2 build)

When starting MXit, the application gets a NullPointerException as it starts up, it then freezes for a while and says it can't connect, this issue could be because I'm not running an official 2.2 build, but it looks more like a general Froyo problem, can anyone confirm this?

This is the only thing stopping me from running the newer ROMs on my phone, so a fix would be greatly appreciated, I am signed up as a beta tester, so would gladly do some testing too

I would think that the issue comes in with the custom rom not supporting the API's.
I suggest that you get the original 2.2 Rom or you could just wait for Gingerbread

Once you have the original rom running and any MXit related errors pop-up, let us know so that we can lend a hand

My device doesn't have an official 2.2 ROM, latest official ROM is 1.6, but I am however running MXit with no problems on a custom 2.1 ROM (CyanogenMOD to be precise)

I was just wondering if other users run MXit without issues on 2.2 ROM's yet, if so, then I will just wait for an updated release of my 2.2 ROM (As it is currently RC1), if that doesn't work... well then as you say, I'll just wait for Gingerbread or stay on 2.1

I updated my ROM to 2.2 RC2 last night and this seemed to have solved the problem... guess it was the previous version no supporting the API as you said... thanks your assistance
